Cyprus from the beginning

Our first day was a wander round the town of Girne where we changed our £££'s for Turkish Lira. We looked in a few shops and had a drink and lunch at a cafe overlooking the sea.

I love the Turkish lights but better to buy on the mainland as price goes up a lot on imported goods

Joyce also went to a shop to see if her toaster had been fixed - heating element anyone?

The next day we went into the capital... sadolyn anyone?

We had a quick look in here - a cathedral that is now a mosque. Fascinating architecture and all welcome to pray in here

We went to a performance of the whirling dervishes and this was on display

It is a beautiful building

Video of dervishes too large so will send separately. We knew it was a performance but it was easy to see how it could be a spiritual experience

Home and Away

Hi all,

Having had our chimney swept and confirmed that it has been lined we decided that the first fire should be held.
We had our house blessed with members of my prayer group with a compilation of Celtic prayers - it was lovely and can forward it if anyone is interested.
Woody led the prayers over the fire and that evening we had our first fire in the cleaned and swept Aga wood burner...

Foggy  watching the fire...
IMG_0014.JPG

The next day we were up and out and off to Gatwick. We parked at the north terminal and used the internal train as it was £20 cheaper to park

Round we go....
IMG_0027.JPG

A stop in Costa Rica...
IMG_0028.JPG

We were late to take off due to a queue of mostly EasyJet planes...

IMG_0030.JPG

We had clear skies as we flew over Kent. We didn't see our house but we were able to work out where we were by following the motorways and later the river Mudway...

IMG_0038.JPG

We changed planes at Istanbul Sahiba Gokçen airport- we also had to change gates as they moved it...no plane yet...
IMG_0039.JPG

Still waiting!
IMG_0041.JPG

We arrived thankfully complete with luggage and were met easily by Joyce and we sat out on the stoep til 2am (that's how warm it was) with cats and nibbles.

Can't sign off without a cat so here's one to say goodbye xxx
