Ashburnham

Yesterday we had to get our cars serviced so we dropped them off at the garage and a friend met us and took us to Ashburnham which is a large estate designed by Capability Brown complete with lake and stone bridge and some formal gardens and a large walled garden part of which is now the kitchen garden.
It was given to a vicar some years ago and has become a Christian retreat and conference centre.
There is a labyrinth...

It’s not a long one but has a lovely feel. A good place to pray.

We had coffee and cake in the orangery....

And then went on to the Church where Cold Comfort Farm was filmed

There are two boilers still in situ

Though not in use

There is evidence of the old decorations before they invented whitewash

And a good way to claim your pew!

In the evening we had a Thai takeaway delivered and some Sauvignon Blanco bubbly for an early celebration of our wedding anniversary.
Today Woody is at work and I am at home with the cats who are mad.

Absolutely mad

And not allowed on the dining table

You can’t see me!

I’ve given in and let her sit in the porch as now there is little likelihood of anyone opening the door and her escaping.

Love to all
